Good afternoon,
I hope everyone
had a wonderful night! Thank you to everyone who has brought in food for the
Eden Food Drive! Please keep it coming!
Thank you to Maram
and Nikhil for singing O’Canada this morning.
IMPORTANT DATES
AND INFORMATION:
SJA will be
holding a PD Day camp on Friday, October
9, as it is our first PD day. Forms were sent home earlier this week. It is
a first come first serve, so if you are interested please complete the form and
hand it along with your money! The cost is $45.00.
We are collecting food for the Eden Food
Drive from now until
Thursday,
October 8. A list was sent via email for items they
are in need of. Anything you can bring in
would be greatly
appreciated.
The Maples Academy
is holding their Fall Fair and Craft Sale on Saturday, October 3 from 10:00-4:00. It will be lots of fun so
please feel free to join in!
I am still waiting
on a few parents to connect to ‘Class Dojo.’ It is a great way for you to
monitor your child’s behavioural progress while at school! Please continue to
sign agendas and check the blog.
Math
Today we worked
with rounding numbers. We rounded numbers to the nearest thousand, hundred, and
ten. Here is our rounding rule: 5 or more let it soar (round up) and 4 or less
let it rest (round down). We also have to remember to use our next-door neighbor
to help up out. For example if we are rounding to the nearest 1000 we look in
the 100 columns to see if we round up or down. If we want to round to the
nearest 100 we look in the 10s column to see if we round up or down (round 1377
to the nearest 1000 = 1000 and round 5624 to the nearest 100 = 5600 and round
9387 to the nearest 10 = 9390).
Language
Today we did some
work on commas. We completed a lesson in
our Writing 4 books and then began some work sheets. We used our other language
period to finish up math.
U.O.I. (Unit of Inquiry)
Today we created a
good manners flower. Students chose a piece of construction paper, cut out a
flower and pasted good manner behaviours on the flower. Reminder that students will have a small test
on what they remembered about a place setting on Monday, October 5.
Have a wonderful night!
